The Central Oregon Coast Amateur Radio Club
has approximately 70 members, most of whom
live in the Florence area. However, we do have out of state members;
many of these are regular summer visitors who enjoy our mild climate
on the coast of
Oregon and join us for our fun activities. We have an active ARES organization
with a
membership of over 20 members, led by our EC, K1WZ.
Our New 2-meter repeater is a Kenwood
TKR-750 on 146.800 - 600 with a PL of 100.0 Hz, and our new UHF repeater is a
Kenwood TKR-850 on 442.575 + 5, also with a PL of 100.0.
The
repeaters are located on
Herman Peak, 11 miles north of Florence. Both repeaters are
open to all Amateurs. We have links from the UHF repeater to Lincoln City, ( Mt. Hebo) and
another to the Coos Bay area is planned
to be completed in Spring/Summer of 2010. Major improvements and changes to
the system have occurred in 2009 such as a complete new radio vault and 180' self
supporting tower.
Other equipment on site includes a
packet node on 144.95 .
The hilltop communications systems are backed up with a new 400 AH AGM battery
bank to keep
everything on line
during long power outages. The new site will have a backup
generator on line in the not too distant future also.
Although we call our group the "Central Oregon
Coast Amateur Radio Club", our corporate name is "Oregon Coast Emergency
Repeater, Inc".
We meet every Wednesday morning
generally between 7:30 AM and 9:00AM at the Bliss Hot Rod Grill in Florence for an informal
gab session called a Coffee Klatch.
