In 2017 Robbie Wright, Siuslaw Broadband (now Hyak) became a member of the Central Oregon Coast Amateur Radio Club. Robbie was aware that the club was looking at additional locations to install infrastructure to support a wider and more dependable amateur radio network in the West Lane area. He assisted the club with making contact with the West Lane Translator Group which owns the largest tower on Glenada Hill, south of the city of Florence. With the support of the West Lane Translator Group rack and tower space was provided to the club. This location provided a major improvement in connecting the inland area of Mapleton and the further southern Dunes City which are both hampered by mountains and trees which impaired line of sight communications with Florence and the Emergency Operations Center (located at Fire Station 1)
